Dusty Rose Ranching was established in 1987. A home was moved in on land that belonged to my family the Eastman’s for over 90 years. Our ranching in nestled in the small quaint prairie community of Rosemary, about 30 min north east of number one and Brooks AB.  Before moving a home out on our land we live in the Village of Rosemary and drove out to the ranch to feed the cattle.

I was raised not far from our ranch and as a child we always had bum lambs around that we got from my uncle Neil Taughtfest. As the cattle became too hard for me to handle on my own while Mark was at work, we finally decided to get rid of the cattle but I had to have some kind of animal around!!!! So I decided to get into llamas and sheep. We lived on the far north of my fathers homestead and we were the last of the few ranches between us and the open prairies  laying north of our land, many coyotes had uses our land  as a corridor to get to the farms laying south of us. When I told my dad that I was going to put sheep  on our land  and that was even before we had moved out  there, he just laughed and said "those sheep will not last a day up there, with all those coyotes around.” I proved him wrong I got my sheep, started raising Llamas and after much research found that Pyrenees Guard dogs were the dog chose for me.  I never lost a sheep to those predators. My dad was amazed.

After most of the children moved away and there was no one to help with the shearing we finally got rid of the sheep. It was not until 4 years ago that I decided to get back into the Full Blood Dorper meat sheep. After extensive research of this breed I decided this breed of sheep was for me. The number on reason no shearing!!!!!  At present we have a flock of 40 Full Blood Ewes and building.

Mark and I have raised 6 children and we have 14 grandchildren. We all love being together, the kids and grandkids visit the ranch when ever possible. Their favorite time is spring time when the new lambs are being born.
